B1G Invitational 2025

The 2025 Big Ten Invitational brought top programs to Sarasota, FL for two intense days of racing on Friday and Saturday. In a field packed with national talent, #3 University of Washington and Clemson University—both racing in King shells—stood out for two very different but equally impressive reasons.

University of Washington – 11 Wins in 12 Races

The Huskies arrived ready to race—and it showed. Washington’s crews captured 11 out of 12 races over the two-day regatta, with every boat racing in King Racing shells.

Friday Highlights – A Statement Start

Washington opened the weekend with authority, sweeping every race they entered on Friday. Across the board, UW crews demonstrated clean execution, tight rhythm, and the ability to control their races from start to finish.

  • 1V8+ and 2V8+ both took commanding wins, handling strong opponents with composed, high-efficiency rowing.

  • The 1V4+ and 2V4+ crews continued the trend, crossing the line first and setting the tone for the weekend.

  • Across all entries, the Huskies looked sharp and composed—ready for whatever Saturday would bring.

“Friday was a showcase of speed and depth. It was clear UW came to make a statement—we are proud that the UW staff and athletes placed their confidence in our boats and service, as they came from across the country to gauge their speed at this point of the season. " Brent Keuch of King Racing.

Saturday Highlights – Power and Grit

  • 🥇 2V8+: The Comeback of the Weekend

Down in the third 500, Washington’s Second Varsity turned on the jets and sprinted through the field to claim a thrilling win in one of the most exciting races of the regatta.

  • 🥈 V8+: A Furious Finish

The Varsity 8+ nearly made it a perfect weekend, launching a dramatic sprint in the final stretch before just running out of space, taking second in their only loss of the regatta.

From start to finish, the Huskies showed why they’re ranked among the nation’s best—delivering speed, consistency, and versatility in every shell.

Clemson University – Building Momentum

Racing their 1V8+, 2V8+, and 1V4+ in King shells, Clemson University entered the regatta ranked last in the field. But by the end of Saturday, they had put together a performance that turned heads.

  • The 1V8+ held tight with top crews, showing technical gains and real speed.

  • The 2V8+ showed resilience, executing strong pieces across both days.

  • The 1V4+ continued to grow, taking valuable lessons from high-caliber racing.

While not medaling, Clemson’s results marked a major step forward for a program working hard to climb the ranks—and they made the most of the opportunity.

“Clemson showed the heart and hunger of a team on the rise. We’re proud they chose to race their top boats in Kings,” said [Your Name].
