King & WinTech had a fantastic weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic, racking up 22 wins across a range of categories to complement a further 22 second and third-placed finishes. Commonly referred to as the premier spring rowing regatta in the United States, the event played host to crews from across the country as the racing season begins to kick into gear.

Several of our partner clubs won multiple trophies across the weekend. Endeavour secured 8 eight wins in our shells (King SE unless otherwise stated) across numerous categories, including Women's Masters Club 4x (WinTech), Women's Masters A 8+, Women's Masters F 8+, Women's Masters G 8+, Mx Incl 2x (WinTech), Women's Masters B 8+, Women’s Masters E 8+ and Women's Masters C 8+.

Club Nautico de San Juan claimed four titles in King SEs, across MMClub 8+, Men's Masters B 8+, Men's Masters C 8+ and Men's Varsity Coley Cup which is the premier men’s race of the event. Freedom Rows were our next most-decorated club, picking up three wins in the MPR3 2x (WinTech), MPR2 2x (WinTech) and Mixed Adaptive 8+ (King SE).

Toronto Sculling took two wins in our boats in the Women's Masters 8+ Club Champ and Women’s Master D 8+ (King SEs) alongside a handful of clubs who managed a singular win in our boats; Ex Nemo in the Men's Masters G 8+ (King SE), Oakland Strokes in the Women's U16 8+ (King), Uni. of Washington in the Women's Collegiate Novice 8+ (King SE), RCA in the Men's Masters Club Champ 8+ (King SE) and Newport Aquatic Center, who took the Women's Youth 8+ crown for the first time in club history in they brand new King SE that they received at the event.

In the latter category, the top four eights were all King SEs, reaffirming our relative dominance at American youth level. Marin Rowing Association were second, ahead of Saugatuck in third and Oakland Strokes in fourth. That category is shaping up to be fascinating to watch as we approach the sharp end of the youth racing programme.

Freedom Rows took four second places in our shells (all WinTechs unless otherwise stated) across the MPR3 2x, Mx Incl 2x, MPR2 2x and Mixed Adaptive 8+ (King SE), to complement their three third-placed finishes in the MPR3 2x, Mx Incl 2x and MPR2 2x (all WinTech). They secured three complete podium coverages in the MPR2 2x, Mx Incl 2x and MPR3 2x.

Oakland Strokes continued to press home their advantage as one of the top junior programs on the circuit, finishing second in both the Men's Youth 8+ and Women's U17 8+ (King SEs) alongside a third in the Men's U16 4x+ (WinTech). Maritime also managed to take two second-placed finishes in our shells, returning as bridesmaids in the Men's Youth B 4x (WinTech) and Men's Youth 4x (WinTech).

Elsewhere, we had solid representation on the podium from RCA (Men's Masters F 8+ in a King SE), Club Nautico de San Juan (Men's Masters A 8+ in a King SE), Marin (Women's Youth 8+ in a King SE), Newport Seabase (Men's U17 8+ in a King SE) and Saugatuck (Women's B 8+, Women's Youth 8+ and Men's Youth 8+ in King SEs), the UK Armed Forces (Men's Varsity Coley Cup in a King SE).

With racing gathering pace over the coming weeks, we cannot wait to support our crews across the country and look forward to watching some fantastic competition as the build into the summer championships begin.
